Logical Reality. Spiffy site. Good head food.
Friday

It's 5 fricken a fricken m. Why am I up?
Because I just finished a track and I've been listening to it on repeat for the last 2 hours. Compulsion. One which I hope others will share )
Link to follow, when the site's sorted.

Saturday
Just picked up the new(ish) album from The Hives. I'm blown away, which doesn't happen often with bands that play music as punktastic as this. Gonna go see them in Feb at the Mean Fiddler- this is a band I think I could adore.
Building a humungous list of gigs I've got to go to. I managed to swing some freebies for James for Monday... I get to relive my indie kid youth. I think I've even got the baggy navy blue jumper with the ridiculously long frayed sleeves somewhere in a dark forgotten cupboard. Then it's Bjork the Sunday after... I'm a lucky lucky lad.

Monday
Well, I wish I could tell you I've been gallivanting around the universe doing exciting things for the last couple of weeks... I guess you'll have to decide that for yourself. Here's the last couple of weeks of my life in easily-digested bullet point format...
Not much for two weeks I guess but that's life. In other news...
RIP George Harrison. More dead beatles. Word is he was working on a new album when he died, which certainly means extra points for style.
- Shitloads of people came to the demo. I'd post photographs but I think I broke my camera. We listened to Tony Benn, Paul Marsden and George Galloway (that renowned after-dinner jazz trio), and hung with all sorts of strange and beautiful people. I wrote to the Independent about it and it got published :::blush:::
- Went to Glasgow and caught up with various old friends and lovers. Got rained on. Saw some good theatre.
- Came back with a cold and broke a tooth on a piece of chewing gum. Points for silliness. Wiped out a whole week's wages. Argh.
- Finally got ADSL. Fear my superaccellerated webfu! Been doing web radio, listening to geekrock and torch songs at merciless, and the Goon Show.
- Participated in the Barbelith Peace Mango launch- wrote a song over at Meme's house, recording it at the mo.

Saturday
Extraordinary gig last night at the London Jazz Festival- Joshua Redman and Denys Baptiste. The kind of jazz that's so intense that, listening to it, you start to hear instruments that aren't there, so charged is your head with all the energy of the music. Still buzzing today.
It's the big demo tomorrow and I've been making banners with several Barbeloids- well, I made them while they watched and made encouraging noises. Those present not making banners at least had the excuse that they were busy deconstructing James Bond... and I wouldn't like to interrupt anyone in the middle of a spot of deconstruction, the shock and aftereffects can be lethal.

Tuesday
Well, the Northern Alliance took Kabul today. Admittedly, John Simpson went in to soften the opposition up first.
A lot of people nodding and going hmm, maybe America's doing the right thing after all?
this war should never have been necessary.

I don't know if it's the drugs, the crazy state of my emotional life, or the world crisis. But I think I had a realization of some sort today.... so as of now I'm on a mission from God.
I have to get the band back together. Life's too short to fuck around. For one reason or another it's probably gonna have to be different people. But right now that doesn't really matter because it's always THE BAND. That's the band you're always with.
My head is currently very very full of positive thoughts. Today I have been mostly eating St John's Wort.

Saturday
Ken Kesey has died.
The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, Tom Wolfe's account of Kesey's group, the Merry Pranksters, impacted into my consciousness when I was 18 or so and changed my life- not in a Jerry Springer way, but it was one of those books- and one of those lives- that gave me hope that the human adventure might have some juice to it beyond dismal, infantile McCulture.
Ken Kesey, you were a damn good writer and a fearless traveller of inner space. May the light gather you in and beam your crazy genius to the rest of us.
Furthur!! into the :::lime:::light::: american superhero that you are!
